Author Q&A With Cille
8th February 2025
I am honoured to be featured in an author Q&A, interviewed by Cille from Denmark 🇩🇰
How did you find out you wanted to be a writer? And what would you like to express in your book?
I only found out when I was quite far into writing my first debut novel, which only started as some therapeutic scrabbling when I was travelling alone. I didn’t plan on becoming a writer at the beginning! I would like to express my feelings for my unrequited love, and the main message that our differences shouldn’t be obstacles to any love stories. Our differences between individuals are here to complete our love stories.
What is the book about and what can readers look forward to?
This is a book about a swoon-worthy, opposites attract love story in an English university. Apart from sweet romance, readers can look forward to lots of Taylor Swift references and the politics of student climate activism.
If the book were to be made into a film, who would you cast?
Wow never thought of this before! To be honest, I would like to cast Lucas myself! He realises a love story I never had the chance to! For Diana, she is an adapted character from someone I know personally, and I think she looks 50% like Emma Corrin. I would cast her as Diana!
What has been the best and most difficult part of writing/publishing the book?
I think the best part is imagining all those romantic scenes in my head and writing them down. I have a very vivid imagination, and sharing it through my novel is very rewarding! The most difficult part is probably managing anything else in the self-publishing process, like working on book promotion, securing the money to pay my editor, etc.
What are you most looking forward to about the release?
I really hope people will smile, cry, and swoon over the love story of Lucas and Diana! I think not everybody will like the message or the ending of my novel, but I hope their love story will make a lasting and thought-provoking impression.
What would your advice be to others with a writing dream?
Always follow your dream! Cross the bridge when you get to it! Don’t ever be scared to have a big dream! I think life will always be hard no matter what paths you choose, so choose the one you’re actually passionate about!
